All,
I've been an MV-8800 user for about two years and have been creating songs, but I was looking for another DAWless solution that was more portable. So, recently I purchased as MPC Live 2, which is technologically advanced when compared to MV (+10 ~ 12 years), but different musical instrument/workstation.
Next, I started integrating the MPC Live 2 with the current studio setup where MV-8800 was main sequencer and sound / sample source.
Here is what I've found interesting:
1. The MPC Live 2 can mount the MV-8800 internal hard drive via its USB port (see attached screenshots). This is obviously great for Audio file / Sample exchange between the two units.
2. Not surprisingly, the MV-8800 and MPC Live 2 synchronize (either way) via MIDI Clock and MMC to the bar/beat resolution. Also, MTC time code works as well, but since MIDI clock works so well, I don't see a need for it in my setup.
3. The MPC Live 2 Sample editing is way more efficient/fast, and the pads are more responsive than MV.
4. I prefer the MV-8800 sample beat length setup for looping / time stretch vs. MPC Live 2 (maybe I just haven't learned how).
Does anyone have both MV-8800 and MPC X/Live/One? What is your experiences?
Regards,
John Detroit
