Is it possible to mod a touchscreen like this? Use the touch as a trackpad basically?

Is the external LCD mounted to back of MV, or free standing? What is the size of LCD?

Are using a mouse, or just for better viewing?

It would go nicely with a panel mounted track ball.  There are some nice ones ps2 ones on ebay but none of them have a scrollwheel, which is pretty essential for the mv8x00.

I was think of doing the same, so I have access to the mouse functions, in a neater, space saving set-up. Question for the OJP, how is the resolution on the small screen, was it a successful mod?

I would recommend a 4:3 screen resolution of 640 x 480 or a 16:9 screen of 800 x 480 (in 4:3 mode). That is an exact match for the MV VGA output and is pin sharp. Other sizes and resolutions will work but will be blurred/fuzzy. It's a matter of taste of course whether you prefer a bigger size with less sharp display.

I've got a 14" 640 x 480 over the MV and a 9" 800 x 480 over my keyboard. Using a VGA splitter. I also send another VGA/PS2 mouse signal up to my vocal booth along a network cable using a KVM extender.

I also use foot pedals with MMC commands to drop in and out of record.
