Faded LCD screen

I have a MV8800 which did not have any issues with the screen until I put it into storage for a few months. When I brought it back out it was really washed out and faded to the point of being unusable. It is not a contrast issue as the adjustment knob still makes it brighter or darker but no more legible.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Does anyone know of a fix or place to start looking to troubleshoot?

I still get by with the VGA output but sometimes I just want to use the MV standalone so I'd like to fix it. Hoping I don't have to end up trying to source one from Roland.

Of course you can leave it in storage without causing problems. You just have to protect it properly from dust and moisture.
