hi could you take a picture of the side of the main board that makes contact with the front panel buttons, My record button has stopped functioning and I'm needing to see the other side to see if it's an issue I can resolve at my level.

Here you go Nosferatu. The MV's tact switches are different than the MPC's I've worked on. They are round and have 2 legs for connection to the circuitboard.

MV-8000 Slider Repair...

Alternate Slider 30mm (10 k ohm) replacement - Panasonic EWANA0C10B14 - that fits the through-hole pattern on the Roland MV-8000 PCB (you'll need to un-solder/re-solder replacement), but also must solder a jumper wire (see image below) between two pads on PCB (on underside) for each slider replaced. I am assuming this slider replacement will work for MV-8800.
