Made this track with a MV, a SP16, and a future retro revolution. Recorded to my multitrack for a rough mix then through some lofi outboard and onto cassette then back into the MV. Finished it up with the mastering toolkit.

Cool track. Sonically balanced. Reminds me of Detroit techno from early 90s.

In reply, my MV is connected to a 4 port USB 3.0 hub with switches on each port, and the USB hub is connected to my MPC Live and i’ve been sharing my MPC Live Expansion and Splice sample libraries with my MV. I just like handing file transfers without a computer. However, the ratio of use of my MPC live vs MV-8800 is 95% to 5%. This is not unexpected since MPC live is new for me and I am still learning how to use use. I’ll keep posting to this thread over the coming months as I evaluate the integration of these two DAWless workstations, and which one gets more use.

PS: here is an updated photo of my MPC and MV where I am using the external monitor, which has its advantages for linear sequencing and editing.

Does anyone know if there is a MV to MPC / patch to program utility? This would bypass the need to access the MV from an MPC, as in JohnDetroit's case, because I can see no advantage to using the MV if you're using the MPC Live, other than if you wanted to degrade the sound quality of your MPC project. The MPC sequencer is better and the time stretch on the MPC is cleaner. Don't see the advantage. It might be right in front of me, but I don't see it.

Also for anyone interested, I checked and the MV doesn't show up in the Plug Ins in Beats as it does on JohnDetroit's Live. Thought I'd give it a shot, but no dice. Like I said the patch converter could be handy, but it's not like the MV's patches and patch edit options are anything to write home about.

I really wish I had a better use for the MV. I'm a legacy MPC/Beats user and my MV is dormant 99% of the time when working DAW-less unfortunately.

MV-General Production / MV-8800 + MPC Live 2 Studio Integration

All,

I've been an MV-8800 user for about two years and have been creating songs, but I was looking for another DAWless solution that was more portable. So, recently I purchased as MPC Live 2, which is technologically advanced when compared to MV (+10 ~ 12 years), but different musical instrument/workstation.

Next, I started integrating the MPC Live 2 with the current studio setup where MV-8800 was main sequencer and sound / sample source.

Here is what I've found interesting:
1. The MPC Live 2 can mount the MV-8800 internal hard drive via its USB port (see attached screenshots). This is obviously great for Audio file / Sample exchange between the two units.
2. Not surprisingly, the MV-8800 and MPC Live 2 synchronize (either way) via MIDI Clock and MMC to the bar/beat resolution. Also, MTC time code works as well, but since MIDI clock works so well, I don't see a need for it in my setup.
3. The MPC Live 2 Sample editing is way more efficient/fast, and the pads are more responsive than MV.
4. I prefer the MV-8800 sample beat length setup for looping / time stretch vs. MPC Live 2 (maybe I just haven't learned how).

Does anyone have both MV-8800 and MPC X/Live/One? What is your experiences?

Regards,
John Detroit

Thanks for the update. Keep us informed.
FYI...you can mix down individual tracks by solo-ing the track or tracks you want mixed down.

of course my horse :) I mean mixing down a whole song by one action and getting individual waveformes neatly organized in a folder when I'm done. Yes that solo thingy but I want the MV to do it for me track by track wile I take a nap

first of in my previous comment I like to say every time I mentioned that bloody 'witch' I meant 'which', so just to be clare I have no association with wiccas (and if I do it's completely secret).

@nef The selecting of multiple pads might be possible to add to the solo/mute page like an extra function page. There we already have the window and a selection system that is kind of similar (per pad based), how it looks in code is an other thing and not for me to say. Other wise it could (also) be a mode you enter wile in quick edit via some shortcut, select/mark all your pads - when you done selecting you have to exit this mode before activating samples with the pads again. To this would be great to get even one more function, one more page to the MUTE/SOLO/MULTIPAD-window and that would be saved multipads, activated with the press of one pad. So you make your multi selection of your favorite padilators and save it to a pad, you could then change different selections on different pads. I guess this feature would fasten up the workflow tremendously on the MV. Imagen the live possibilities of utilizing the filters or LFO in this way, might be dangerous though this might just crack the planet in half!

((goddamit I should of worked for roland 15years ago instead of making this guys life more complicated))

About the donation thingy, yeah I got that and I remembered it from an earlier comment of yours but wanted to mention this since if you take your own time and all (all respect for this) but if you come out with a stabile update we could donate then . That way no pressure or more responsibility, just sayin'. With the donation fonds we could start making a new machine on this forum from scratch, without ANY reverse engineering anything from anywhere :o.
The MV/MPC/Maschine/Deluge/all-killer The MM9900  the Mass Murderer 9900 LMAO ;D
