SSD Mod for MV8800
« on: February 17, 2017, 03:50:37 PM »
Another MV8800 mod completed today. This time I upgraded the internal HD to a Zheino 128GB PATA SSD. It was a VERY easy mod to do with NO adapters or extra cables needed. I did notice a couple of improvements so far…

1. initial system start-up & project save times have improved SLIGHTLY(5-10% faster)
2. Previewing sounds and loading patches are a HUGE improvement(30-40% faster!!)
3. No noise or heat is also a BIG plus!!

The next mod will be to replace the cheap plastic side panels with real wood side panels...

Going with a PATA drive (instead of a SATA one) was a wise decision. Itīs a straight swap with no converter or adapter needed. I did the same and couldnīt be happier.

Let us know how your side panels work out. I have some in dark walnut which I plan to modify further (bought them with my 2nd MV and they lack the recession of the stock ones).

*TIP of the Day*

I could not get my Samsung LED monitor to display anything after installing the new SSD in my MV8800. To correct this follow the steps listed below;

1.Under the SYSTEM folder of the MV8800 scroll down & select 'Display/Mouse'
2. Select the VGA Refresh Rate & match it to the refresh rate of your monitor(mine happens to be 75Hz)

I donīt own the 8000 but I see no reason why a SSD wouldnīt work. Youīll obviously need a 2,5" to 3,5" hard disk adapter and a mounting tray to fit a 2,5" drive to a 3,5" "slot".

These will work too. Both are 128GB cards... CF & Micro SD.
